Victorian Valentine with Cherubs, Roses & White Dove

While the card claims to celebrate love and peace, its composition tells a different story: an obscenely enormous heart has physically displaced an entire rose garden, and TWO white doves — one emblazoned on the heart itself like a corporate logo, one hovering nearby in case the symbolism wasn't clear enough — suggest the Victorians needed redundancy to hammer their point home. The cherub on the left leans in conspiratorially whispering to the heart, while the one on the right sits casually draped across it like a loveseat, gazing off with the thousand-yard stare of someone who has seen too many Februaries. The script 'To My Valentine' is embossed directly onto the heart's surface, because apparently love needed to be literally branded onto cardiac muscle to count. Pink roses cascade in every available direction, a maximalist shrine to Victorian romantic anxiety where subtlety simply did not survive the 19th century.
