Vintage St. Patrick's Day Greeting Card with Woman in Green Bonnet

The scroll beneath her bears the verse 'My Irish Rose, to thee I sing / To thee I pray / Let's join hands — our hearts beat as one — On St. Patrick's Day,' which manages to be simultaneously wholesome and weirdly intense, like a marriage proposal from someone you just met at a parade. Emerging from an enormous white rose arrangement like some kind of floral debutante nightmare, this young woman sports a green bonnet trimmed with white flowers and tied with a dramatic bow, gazing off into the middle distance with the serene detachment of someone who has fully accepted her fate as a botanical centerpiece. A golden harp with a shamrock at its base anchors the lower left corner, presumably because subtlety was still being invented in 1910.
