The Ould Irish Jig - Victorian Greeting Card Dance Scene

A man wielding what appears to be a walking stick overhead while aggressively charging a woman mid-jig, two male onlookers (one grinning maniacally behind a barrel), and someone fleeing the scene in the background all suggest that this ambiguous display of either vigorous traditional dance or elaborate chaos is apparently what 'charming cultural heritage' looks like. The woman, to her credit, is giving as good as she gets with her arms raised and skirts flying, either engaged in the activity enthusiastically or making a break for it. Meanwhile, the verse at the bottom defiantly rejects the waltz and polka in favor of 'our own Irish jig,' which tracks — because whatever is happening here could not possibly be mistaken for anything else.
