Against a background that's doing absolutely no favors for the whole scene, a small boy swoops in for an unsolicited kiss while clutching what appears to be a mysterious red object like some kind of tiny Victorian pickup artist. The girl, decked out in a yellow dress absolutely plastered with black cats, stands rigid against a chair with the energy of someone desperately calculating their escape route. Meanwhile, a grinning jack-o'-lantern watches the whole thing from the floor with the smug satisfaction of a witness who will tell no one. The poem's breathless clarification that the 'joy' it wishes you is specifically 'the joy of lots of fun, I mean' raises more questions than it answers.
