Vintage Halloween Greeting Card Art Nouveau Woman Black Cat

Despite being a cheerful Halloween greeting, the card instead presents an Edwardian woman crouching over a jack-o'-lantern with a hand mirror, apparently checking her reflection while a black cat lurks beside her like a disapproving life coach. The intimacy she shares with this leering gourd is frankly between her and her therapist. Meanwhile, in the inset panel above — because one unsettling scene clearly wasn't enough — a witch on a broomstick tears through a cloudy sky framed by spider webs, presumably fleeing the same weird pumpkin energy happening below. Signed by artist Kathlyn Elliott, which means someone looked at this fever dream and proudly put their name on it.
