Victorian Christmas Greeting Card with Winter Scene & Holly

The serene holiday message and delicate framing are completely at odds with the card's aggressive decorative assault: John Winsch copyrighted this masterpiece in 191-something, apparently believing that what the world needed was a teal-gradient sky absolutely *carpeted* in gold stars, three aggressively large holly clusters menacing the frame like botanical bouncers, and a gold-rimmed oval vignette trapping two tiny figures in a snowscape they clearly cannot escape. The 'Christmas Greetings' text at the bottom has decided to commit fully to chaos by mixing red and green lettering in what can only be described as a font that had too many opinions. Those two small figures standing in the snow near the cottage are doing absolutely nothing — just existing in their frozen oval prison while the holly looms above them, judging.
