Vintage Halloween Greeting Card - Children & Jack-O-Lanterns

Two children have mounted carved jack-o-lanterns on long sticks held high above their heads like tiny Victorian conquerors parading severed heads through the village square. The boy, sporting a wide-brimmed straw hat and suspenders, appears to be mid-skip — a man on a mission — while the girl in her pale blue dress and white bonnet plants her feet with the confident energy of someone who has done this before and will do it again. A bundle of corn stalks lurks ominously in the background, presumably where they harvested their victims. 'Jolly Halloween,' the card cheerfully insists, apparently convinced that jolliness is best expressed by children gleefully brandishing impaled pumpkin heads.
