Vintage 1900s Fourth of July Greeting Card Uncle Sam Fireworks

A festive Fourth of July scene shows Uncle Sam in full stars-and-stripes regalia standing beside a child mid-leap, waving an American flag while standing directly on top of actively exploding firecrackers, a drum, and what appears to be a pile of additional munitions — and that's when you notice the gun in Uncle Sam's hand and the lit sparkler in his other, both aimed in the child's general direction. The child's expression is one of pure unhinged ecstasy, which makes complete sense given that a grown man in a novelty suit is discharging a firearm approximately two feet from their head. The text 'Fourth of July' is spelled out in what can only be described as bleeding-candle font, because apparently the best way to evoke a wholesome summer holiday is gothic red lettering surrounded by more decorative explosives. By modern standards, this postcard is less 'happy Independence Day' and more 'Exhibit A.'
