Victorian Thanksgiving Greetings Card with Girl and Turkey

With a look of suspicious serenity, this pristine white-dressed and straw-bonneted child has apparently decided that a full-grown turkey makes an excellent beast of burden, harnessing it with a golden cord to haul a wicker cart piled high with corn, apples, berries, and what appears to be a pumpkin. The turkey — to its credit — looks exactly as horrified as you'd expect an animal being conscripted into harvest labor to look, its red wattle and iridescent feathers doing nothing to dignify its new career as livestock. The whole scene radiates the cheerful obliviousness of someone who has absolutely no idea that the 'draft animal' they're so proudly parading around is the guest of honor at tomorrow's dinner, and frankly, neither does the child.
