Vintage Christmas Angel Greeting Card, Victorian Cherub Design

A winged infant wearing a full red suit with white fur trim and black boots — because apparently Santa outsourced his workload to a celestial toddler — hoists a gold-rimmed oval banner overhead while balancing one-footed on an enormous red poinsettia, clutching what appears to be a golden ornament or candle in one hand like a weapon of seasonal cheer. The small white wings on its back are doing absolutely nothing to explain the levitation, and yet here we are. Victorian card artists were clearly operating under a 'more is more' philosophy: why send warm holiday wishes when you can send them via an airborne toddler-Santa hybrid emerging from a flower like some kind of yuletide fever dream?
