Art Deco Easter Postcard Woman Riding Bell 1920s

For reasons that remain unclear, this French illustrator decided to position a redhead in a tiny orange dress and red stockings straddling an enormous bell while casually presenting a pink egg to absolutely no one — a choice that is either deeply symbolic or the fever dream of someone who had very specific feelings about Easter. The baby chick perched on a wooden block nearby watches the proceedings with the thousand-yard stare of someone who has seen too much. Art Deco's 'fantastical compositions' were apparently just 'put a pin-up on a giant object and add a farm animal' and honestly, respect.
